Kelly Clarke is an American mezzo-soprano, philanthropist and social impact advocate. 

ART

Kelly Clarke is a dynamic mezzo-soprano whose artistry spans opera, oratorio, and contemporary performance. Known for her rich tone and commanding presence, Kelly brings a nuanced emotional depth to her interpretations, earning acclaim on stages across the country. She holds degrees in vocal performance from SUNY Purchase and Mannes, where she trained under renowned mezzo-sopranos and developed a particular affinity for 20th- and 21st-century repertoire. Performance highlights include appearances with Chautauqua Opera and San Francisco Opera. A versatile collaborator, Kelly is equally at home premiering new works by living composers and reimagining classics from the operatic canon.

Advocacy

As both a commissioner and creator, Clarke is passionate about new work and innovative cross-disciplinary projects. 

As a community builder, Clarke often engages in cross-disciplinary projects and lectures in salons and global venues.

Clarke currently serves on the board of National Sawdust, a venue that commissions, produces, and presents cultural programming rooted in sound, supporting artists in various disciplines who are passionate about experimentation and innovation. 


In addition, Clarke is passionate about both restoring the classical bel canto style singing as well as seeding new works by contemporary composers. A strong believer in the bel-canto style and nurturing young artists, Clarke currently serves on the board of Classic Lyric Arts,  an international training program for young opera singers. 

She is also an active member of the Young Patron circles at Carnegie Hall, New York City Ballet, The Metropolitan Opera, The Metropolitan Museum of Art, The Neue Gallery and The Frick, where she supports emerging artists and forward-thinking programming.
